Shadow Staffordshire Health and Wellbeing Board
"A once in a lifetime opportunity to fundamentally transform health and improve outcomes for Staffordshire people."

Partners across Staffordshire have a shared ambition to build a health and social care system that delivers improved outcomes for our communities in the most efficient and effective way possible.
Our aim is to provide strategic leadership across the whole health care and social care sector, to make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of local people.
Staffordshire has been successful in gaining 'early implementer status' and has established the Shadow Staffordshire Health and Wellbeing Board. The Shadow Staffordshire HWB has a number of ongoing responsibilities, including producing the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JHWS).
The Board met for the first time in October 2011 to agree its Terms of Reference and future work of the Shadow Board.
Priorities
The Board has responsibility for overseeing the delivery of one of the Staffordshire Strategic Partnership's priority outcomes:'Staffordshire will be a safe, healthy and aspirational place to live'. Underpinning this outcome are three priorities:
-
Reduce the impact to the individual, community and society caused by alcohol misuse;
-
Positively support the ageing population;
-
Reduce crime and the fear of crime.
The Board will develop further outcomes and priorities, once these are agreed they will be updated here.

In March 2012, the HWB agreed its shared Vision, principles and approach, including overarching strategic themes and outcomes. This contains the Board's vision statement.
Progress Update
Given that the Board has now held its first four meetings we thought it was an ideal opportunity to share the progress that has been made so far.
