Staffordshire Third Sector Commissioning Standards

The commissioning standards have been developed to enable public sector bodies in Staffordshire to be even more effective in the future, when working with the third sector in designing innovative, effective and outcome focussed services that are better matched to the needs of our local communities.

The standards are a toolkit for those staff responsible for commissioning and procuring services within public agencies and will assist those who are committed to implementing the principles of the Staffordshire Compact and the Funding, Commissioning and Procurement Code of Practice.

The standards have been structured to reflect the four stages of the commissioning cycle and they set out how to work with each other in terms of:

  • Analysing local need
  • Planning a service to meet the need
  • Finding a provider to deliver the service and
  • Monitoring and evaluating the service against desired outcomes

The development of these standards represents a real step forward in terms of strengthening the working relationships between Staffordshire's public sector partners and the third sector, for the mutual benefit of those involved.
